Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRANSPORT Development Group's results for 1979 are up an those for the previous year, despite the harmful effects of the road haulage strike.

Pre-tax profits have increased from £19.8m to £22.2m, and turnover has risen from £219m to £248m.

The Group, which is the holding company for many well-known private sector hauliers, suffered a drop in profitein the first half of 1979, from 1978's £10.3m to £10.1m. But the second half results pulled it back ahead, from 1978's £10.6m to £13.3m.

TDG expects that there will be a decrease in its activities this year, but is confident that its widely spread assets will help it weather storms in which others will perish.
