• Police plan to confiscate trucks in a crackdown on flytipping.
A test case will be heard at Tower Bridge Magistrates next month after two drivers were caught dumping 20 tonnes of rubble in Rotherhithe last March. Now the police have applied to have the lorry confiscated from its owners in the beginning of July.
The London Waste Regulation Authority says this will be the first time the police have applied to seize a fly-tipping vehicle.
