or Internal Works Transport• INTERNAL works transport calls for la small truck capable of traversing narrow roadways and shop gangways, and adaptable to the carrying of a diversity of loads. The Greenbat 2iton petrol-driven truck, manufactured by Greenwood and 13atley, Ltd., Albion Works, Leeds, fulfils these requirements.
With a platform height of 21f ins., the available body length is 6 ft. Of in, and the width 3 it. 9.3-8 ins. The standard truck carries a platform body and is equipped with solid tyres. An alternative model is, however, available having a sided body, mounted on Firestone 18-in. by 7-in, pneumatic tyres.
A Morris four-cylindered engine is mounted in a forward position, and has a bore of 69.5 mm. and a stroke of 102 mm. giving a capacity of 1.5 litres. Side valves are employed, and the engine is water-cooled. The power is
B28 transmitted through a plate clutch with cork inserts, and the clutch and gearbox are mounted as a unit with the engine.
The gearbox provides one forward speed, a neutral and reverse, but we understand that a gearbox giving two forward and two. reverse speeds can be supplied. The drive is taken from the gearbox through a cardan shaft equipped with universal joints, to an overhead-worm-driven axle, in which a differential gear is incorporated. Internal-expanding brakes operate on the driving wheels, and are controlled by pedal or hand levers.
