Michelin and its local independent tyre dealer Lodge Tyre for a complete tyre management package covering its fleet of approximately 200 vehicles, The contract includes the servicing of existing tyres already fitted to the fleet as well as the supply of Michelin's new and remould products as replacements when necessary. It also includes associated costs for labour, administration, stock management, disposal and tyre repairs.
Alan Davenport, transport engineer for the company, says: We wanted an all-inclusive fixed cost contract as it allows us to know exactly what our tyre expenditure is going to be for the duration of the twoyear period. The decision to take the fixed-cost route follows a two-year trial with Michelin on our trucks which was so successful we decided to roll it out across the entire fleet when the contract came up for renewal."
