Alford (Lines) Magistrates' Court on charges relating to the use of unlicensed vehicles, Joseph Stapleton, haulage contractor, of Wainfleet, Lincs, was fined a total of £150 on 14 similar charges at Spilsby Magistrates' Court. He was fined £15 on each of two charges and £10 on each of the other 12.

Told by the chairman of the bench that he seemed to "take this very lightly". Stapleton was stated to owe £170 in fines previously imposed at Spilsby as well as the fines of £200 at Alford. and he was allowed three months in which to pay the latest £150.

Stapleton told the court that he made a mistake and lost a lot of money and was then fined. He added: "The more you fine me the more difficult I find it to run my business." The vehicles, except for one, were now stated to have been licensed.
