Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

problem was far less serious than it is to-day, and subsequent events have seemed to cast doubt on the wisdom of the change.

In all recommendations of this kind there should be a safety margin, i.e., it is advisable to recommend a slightly higher pressure than is actually necessary, in order to allow for the fact that few people will take the trouble to keep their tyres inflated right up to the given figure. With most of them, to be within 10 lb. per sq. in. is" near enough." It was partly for this reason, but mainly because I am convinced that the old higher pressures are really necessary, that I gave the old table in my article. However, it has been pointed out that it may lead to confusion if the " C.M." publishes figures which are different from those which axe given by the S.M.M. and T., so I have no alternative than to give the new pressures herewith. These figures apply to high-pressure tyres only. In the sizes given in my original table there has been no change in the recommendations for low-pressure tyres. L.V.B.
