NEW REGULATIONS on the reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurances are coming on April 1 and will replace the existing Notification of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations of 1980.

The new regulations apply to any organisation which employs people. In addition trainees under certain schemes, not actually employed at the place where they are undergoing job experience, will he covered.

They contain modified requirements on the reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences, and they also require the reporting of certain diseases and specified ill-health. Penalties for noncompliance could be fines of up to 0,000 on each charge.

A wall chart guide to the new regulations has been produced by Saxton Safety Services which has diagrams, explanations and definitions of the diseases, dangerous occurrences and injuries that have to be reported.
