Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE chairman of the Tilling Group, Mr. Maurice Holmes, and the chairman of the Scottish Omnibuses Group. Mr. James Amos, were elected to the council of the Public Transport Association at a meeting in London last week which also accepted the applications of the Scottish Group companies to rejoin the Association. Two Tilling directors, Mr. George McKay and Mr. C. H. S. Pickett, were also elected to the council. and the four new members take the place of Mr. T. A. Barton, Mr. R. E. Chisnell, Mr. T. P. Sheridan and Mr. E. L. Taylor, who have retired from the council.

Election of the Scottish Group companies to corporate membership was by a unanimous decision of the council. The companies concerned are the Midland,

Fife, and Northern constituents of W. Alexander and Sons Ltd., the Central S.M.T. Co. Ltd., Highland Omnibuses Ltd., Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. and the Western S.M.T. Co. Ltd. Like the Tilling Group companies (whose decision to rejoin the P.T.A. was revealed in The Commercial Motor of January 11) the Scottish concerns left the P_T.A. at the direction of the B.T.C. some 13 years ago. Both Scottish and Tilling companies are now under the wing of the Transport Holding Company.

A London Transport spokesman said last week that it would be a week or two yet before London Transport reached a decision about whether to apply for membership of the P.T.A.
