PRACTICAL advice for rural communities that are dissatisfied with their bus and public transport services is contained in a new Government publication entitled "Guide to Community Transport".
John Horam, Transport Under-Secretary, announced publication of the guide in answer to a written Parliamentary question from West Gloucestershire MP John Watkinson.
He said that the guide concentrates on the organisation of community bus and social car schemes but also deals with the possibility of using services such as post and school buses.
The guide emphasises that both community bus and school car schemes require a lot of effort before their introduction. Local groups are told that they should always seek the advice and support of their local authority and bus company.
