The B.T.C. did not, however, deny the report.

The Daily Herald stated on Tuesday that Mr. Dawson had personally approached Sir Brian with an offer for the Carter Paterson parcels organization.

Mr. Dawson was not available when The Commercial Motor telephoned his home on Tuesday in an attempt to secure a statement.

DAZZLE ACCIDENTS I N 1953, 1,593 accidents-3.1 per cent. of night-time accidents—were caused by headlight dazzle. The 1951 and 1952 totals were 1,602 and 1,272 respectively, and the percentages 3.4 and 2.9. Mr. H. Molson, Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, gave this information to Mr. Steele last week.

Labour's Transport Pamphlet Withdrawn

THE Labour Party's 13,000-word transport policy pamphlet, " British Transport," has been withdrawn "on legal grounds." It had been circulated to Members of Parliament and to constituency parties, but last week all were asked to return their copies because of a legal point.

The pamphlet, which was summarized in The Commercial Motor on April 9, gave the Labour Party's detailed proposals to renationalize road haulage

• without compensation. It outlined their declared policy to "remove all restrictions" aimed at preventing the British Transport Commission from developing a fully integrated public service of road and rail transport.

DOUBLE FARES AT CHRISTMAS

HULL has been granted permission to charge double fares on the municipal motorbus and trolleybus services within the city boundary on Christmas Day. Joint services operated within the city by East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., will also be affected.
