• Exel Logistics expects to sign up two major contracts in Spain next month, says Mark Bedeman, Exel's managing director for mainland Europe.
He describes negotiations for the work, with a retailer and a manufacturer, as "upbeat" and is recruiting bilingual managers for Spain, as well as France and Germany.
Exel bought major Spanish food and drink distributor Sadema for nearly £6m last year, and clinched a distribution contract with Galeries Preciados, Spain's second-largest department store. The company is "looking around for the best acquisitions" to increase further its presence in Spain, France and Germany, says Bedeman.
