Alan Richards, present traffic manager of National Carriers Ltd is to become assistant managing director — the latest senior change announced in the National Freight Corporation parcels and small freight group*. H. Geoghan, midland area manager, will become a director. The impending retirement of H. Kinsey, md of National Carriers Ltd, and his succession by R. H. Teager was announced in CM June 16.

Other changes are: H. C. Bundock, group executive director (finance), and A. Monigan, managing director of B EC (Specialized Services) Ltd, are appointed assistant managing directors of BRS Parcels Ltd.

Leeds) vice-chairman of the Road Haulage Association's commercial committee for the following two-year period. And at a meeting of the RHA's vehicle security committee on Tuesday J. T. Brown (Atlas Express Ltd. London SE16) was reelected chairman and W. W. Grace (Lion Cartage Ltd, London SE41 was elected vicechairman of the committee for the next two years. J. T. Brown Harry Bimie, 48, National Carriers Ltd assistant depot manager at Aberdeen since 1968, has been promoted manager. Michael Brock, 32, new manager at Aldershot, has been office manager at Aldershot since 1969. John Barber, a deputy managing director of British Leyland, is to take over responsibility for British Leyland International — last year overseas sales were £563m — in addition to finance and planning. George Turnbull, the other BLMC deputy managing director, recently took over the truck and bus division in addition to Austin Morris. Lord Stokes, chairman and managing director of British Leyland, said that these appointments were in line with the corporation's policy of delegating more management responsibility to reduce the number of activities which report to the chief executive.

G. Read (UBM Transport Ltd, Bristol) has been re-elected chairman of the Western Traffic Area Vehicle Advisory Committee, and L. Matthews (managing directrzir, Heavy Transport Co Ltd, St Austell) re-elected vicechairman. The secretariat duties are carried out by J. F. Cox (secretary, Western area Road Haulage Association) and B. Elliott (secretary, Devon and Cornwall area of RHA). Roy Scanes (director and general manager of the Services Equipment Division of Tecalemit (Engineering) Ltd) has been elected president of the Garage Equipment Association. R. W. (Bob) Smith (Marsham National Garage Equipment Service), representing distributor members of the Association, and Jack Bushnell (Crypton-Triangle) representing manufacturing membership, are vicechairmen. Mr Scenes was vice-president (manufacturer) to Geoff Ely (Brown Bros Ltd) during 1971.

N . S. Despicht, director, transport division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, is one of 10 persons elected Ordinary Members of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport. The others are: D. M.
