Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Newtondrive two-pedal control system, as fitted to the Standard 6-cwt. chassis shown on Stand 71 at Earls Court, was tested last week by The Commercial Motor. When changing up on a Standard Vanguard, the take-up was rough on occasions, but, on the whole, the system was satisfactory: On a second test with a Hillman Minx the performance was exemplary, and, says P. G. Tucker, the system could not be faulted. The heart of the design lies in the use of a Newton centrifugal clutch which can be produced to absorb any degree of torque.

Any vehicle in which a synchromesh gearbox is used can take advantage of this two-pedal control system. As fitted to the Standard 6-cwt. chassis, the extra cost is only £16 I Is. 3d.. including purchase tax.
