At Glasgow, on November 1-2, the Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., the Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd., and the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., will be wellknown applicants, also figuring amongst the objectors. At Edinburgh, on November 7-8, W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., and the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., will make the majority of applications.

Yorkshire.

WHEN the Yorkshire Traffic Commis sioners sit at Leeds, on November 2, most of their time will be absorbed by the consideration of applications for express-carriage and excursion and tour licences and backings. Little objection is shown in Gazette 78. Several popular north-country long-distance services will be reviewed.

chester, from November 2-4, there will be a considerable amount of opposition to the granting of licences, many being sought in respect of express services and excursions and tours. The London, Midland and Scottish and the London and North-Eastern Railway Companies, and some of their associated road-transport concerns, will oppose many of the applications, whilst several of the applicant concerns will have the support of local authorities. '

East Midland.

A. NUMBER of the applications at the East Midland Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Leicester, on November 1 (and on November 3, if necessary), will be mode by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., the business at this hearing being concerned mainly with stage-carriage services.

SEVERAL licence applications in respect of popular stage-carriage ser vices in the home counties will be made at the Eastern Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Colchester, on November 2-3, whilst licences will be sought for excursions and tours, starting from such widespread points as Manchester and Ilfracombe. Some important long-distance services also will he reviewed.

South Wales.

CERTAIN of the applications at the South Wales Traffic Commissioners' sitting at Cardiff, on October 27 (and on the following day, if necessary), will be opposed, but otherwise, according to Gazette 53, the hearing should proceed fairly smoothly.

Backings will be sought in large numbers at Swansea, from November 1-3. A considerable amount of opposition will be forthcoming, although the number of applications to be heard is comparatively small.

Metropolitan.

EXPRESS services from London to a wide variety of points will be the subject of applications in London, from November 2-4.
