• "The additional revenue sought is necessary and the proposed fares are not unreasonable," said Maj.-Gen. A. F. J. Elmslie, chairman of the South Eastern Traffic Commissioners, when giving his decision to the fares revision application by the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. this week. (CM November 14.) The chairman noted that when they came to consider the application, all 22 local authorities who had previously recorded a statutory objection had withdrawn and were not represented at the inquiry.

There were, however, representations from members of the Communist Party, Canterbury branch of the Old Age Pensioners Association and the Canterbury Trades Council.
