Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

such as blow guns, nut setters and drills — require relatively low air pressures in the range of 275-345kN1m2 (40-50psi). Yet there may be one or two appliances that need pressures in excess of 700kN/m2 (100psi) to operate. That normally means that compressors need to be used which are overspecified for the lowerpowered tools, and that pressure regulators need to be incorporated in the air line.

A relatively low-cost alternative to that solution is offered by SMC Pneumatics. It is the VBA series pressure booster which delivers extra pressure to the few stations which might need it.

The machine is pneumatically powered and has no electrical connections. When mounted on a standard air receiver it functions as a pneumatically operated highpressure compressor. It can deliver up to 1,035kN/m2 (150psi) and obviates in many cases the need for a twostage compressor, costing perhaps 21,000s.

Price of the VBA pressure booster is £375.
