Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Foden Trucks' new managing director is 32-year-old Mark Pigott. He takes over from Hank Keifer who is returning to America to take up an as-yet-unspecified manage ment position within Foden's parent company, Paccar.

American-born Pigott has been assistant managing director at Sandbach for the past 18 months, and becomes one of the youngest managing directors in the British truck-building industry.

Last year Foden returned to profit, and, according to its new MD, it aims to improve its performance still further in 1986. Foden's registrations during the first five months were up by 37% says Pigott, with a marked increase in fleet business.

"This keeps us on schedule to achieve our medium-term target of a market share of between 7% and 10%."

Among a number of shortterm plans Pigott aims to instigate are schemes to improve parts support and customer services. By the end of the year, Foden will have commissioned a 21 million computer system linking its dealers with the national parts distribution centre.

Other projects high on Pigott's priority list include a broad-based contract maintenance scheme, and a vehicle leasing programme.
