IN a reserved decision, the Yorkshire

Traffic Commissioners have granted the application by East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., to increase return fares on their stage and express services (The Commercial Motor, May 24). An application to increase contract-ticket rates by 8+ per cent, was, however, refused.

At the hearing, Mr. F. A. Stockdale, for the company, said they had been considering cuts in their non-paying services since the Commissioners' decision last December to grant only part of the increases which had been applied for.

Applications, to which there are .strong municipal objections, have now been lodged to amend timetables and withdraw unremunerative journeys, including many in the Driffield area. The hearing will be at Bridlington in July.

Bournemouth Town Council was told last week that fare increases would have to be sought if the latest wages claim was successful. A move to increase revenue by accepting advertisements on corporation buses was defeated.

Bradford Transport Committee have applied to the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners for fare revisions. The full schedules have not yet been passed by the city council, but the finance estimates sub-committee have recommended that they be approved,
