Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford's UK managing director has left the company after turning down another role within the group.

Roger Phillips has been replaced by Italian Giuseppe Franchi, managing director of Iveco subsidiary Seddon Atkinson. In the short term he will manage both companies.

Iveco is not releasing any reasons for Phillips' resignation, except for a statement which says he declined "to assume responsibility for a wider international role within the Iveco Group".

An Iveco spokesman says Franchi, who has been in charge of Oldham-based Seddon Atkinson for the past 12 months, was appointed on the strength of experience in the contract-hire field.

The spokesman ruled out a Seddon Atkinsonilveco Ford merger, saying Seddon has a separate role focusing on specialist small-volume trucks such as the latest Euromover.

Phillips was unavailable for comment,
