and Tom Cronin last week for an end to the picketing by dockers — and counter-picketing by lorry drivers — Tilbury, Royal and West India docks and at the Chobham Farm and Barking Container bases, the dispute continues.
Mr Bert Fry, TGWU South East regional secretary, is hoping to call a meeting of the drivers and dockers concerned to resolve the dispute which centres on a call by dockers for additional work in container-handling warehouses.
The drivers concert belong to the unofficial So East Container Drive Federation, whose co-ch; man, Mr Alf Weston, saic the weekend that members would not lift picketing until the dock ended their picketing "blacking".
