Eddie Stobart is moving its administration department from Carlisle to Merseyside in a bid to better meet the needs of its growing customer base in the North-West.
The company Is transferring staff in Its support services' departments—such as payroll and human resources —to its premises in Haydock.
Human resources director Sheila Woodbridge says between 50 and 40 staff will probably be involved in the move. "The head office at Carbide Is a great location but Is not Ideal for arranging meetings with customers," says Woodbridge.
Stobart has been strengthening Its presence in the North-West over the last year. In 2002 it extended its relationship with discount retail outlet Matalan, based in Skelmersdale.
