MUNICIPAL PRIVATE POOLING PROPOSED BY COMMISSIONERS.

A POOLING arrangement between the

Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., and Gloucester Corporation has been suggested by the Western Traffic Commissioners. The company applied, some time ago, for the variation of protection conditions attached to two licences.

The Commissioners have decided that B38 the corporation is entitled to some measure of protection and they consider that the best method of securing it would he to pool receipts on a certain route under review. The principle would be similar to that under which the Plymouth agreement is worked. The public would thus be able to use any vehicle on the route and the operators would be freed from restrictions that are inclined to be irksome. CROSVILLE CO. TO TAKE OVER "WESTERN TRANSPORT."

Chester, which has just put into service its 1,000th bus, has negotiated for the taking over, from May 1, of the Western Transport Co., Ltd., Wrexham, with 133 vehicles and 500 employees. The Crosville concern thus becomes the fourth largest operator in the country, its routes honeycombing 14 counties..
