0 A joint operation involving Cyprien-Fox Ltd. and Alltransport Ltd. begins on Tuesday when two articulated outfits leave London on a 22-day, 3,000-mile European trip with the stage props of the Old Vic Theatre Company. Cyprien-Fox is supplying the tractive units and AI'transport the semi-trailers and containers. Both companies are members of the Shipping Industrial Holdings Ltd.. group whose chairman is Mr. Reginald Maudling.

The tractive units are Atkinson and the Crane Fruehauf tandem-axle semi-trailers are fitted with 40ft containers.

The two-vehicle convoy will leave England via Tilbury and will travel by England-Sweden line to Gothenburg and on to Stockholm where the company presents As You Like It. The same production will be presented at Copenhagen. Belgrade and Venice. At each stop the containers will be reloaded immediately following the performance. The schedule is so timed that within four hours of the curtain falling in each case the props will be off on the next leg of the journey.

To ensure co-ordination Alltransport will have staff members at each stopping point along the route. To guard against any delays caused by mechanical failure. Atkinson have supplied an emergency spares kit, and Cummins engines and Goodyear tyres have arranged for their agents to be on call along the route through West Germany and Austria.

Mr. Len East. the managing director of Cyprien-Fox, told CM this week: "I have handled many consignments on tight schedules but this is the tightest ever' • Prices have been released for the B MC Laird ( see page 93). In chassis-cab form they range from £1,490 for the LR950 with 111in. wheelbase, to £1,530 with 201in. The LR1160 costs from £1,620 for the 151in. wheelbase, to £1,675 (131in. wheelbase) and the LR1300 from £1,795 (111in.) to £1,845 (201 in.).

In chassis/front end form the models cost £85 less than above, while typical prices for complete vehicles are:—

Platform truck LR950, £1,672 to £1,740; LR 1160, £1,789 to £1,857; LR1300, £1,989 to £2,057. Dropside truck LR950, £1,700 to £1,776; LR1160, £1,817 to 1,893; LR1300, £2,017 to £2,093.

The prime mover LR1800 costs £1,700 with auto coupling and £25 more with fifth-wheel type. Optional extras include a 8 MC two-speed axle for £75.
