MR. W. D. RAE, B.Sc.. A.R.1.C., chief research chemist at the Andre Rubber Co., Ltd., has been awarded his Ph.D., his thesis being "Some studies in the bonding of rubber to metal."
MR. D. CAIRNS has been appointed Dunlop district manager in Belfast, where he has been acting manager since 1943. MR. P. C. WELSH continues as Dunlop regional manager for Northern Ireland.
In connection with the appointments announced in our issue dated September 6, Albion Motors, Ltd., points out that MR. EDWARD M. MELVILLE, the new manager of the company's sales and service depot at Bristol, has not held the equivalent position in the London depot.
Returning from his tour of the Iberian Peninsula, MR. D. G. Erotas-, export development manager of Leyland Motors, Ltd., arrived at Northolt aerodrome on September 11. During the major portion of his tour in Spain Mr. Stokes was accompanied by SIGNOR POYAN, managing director of La Petrolifera Transportes S.A., of Madrid, agents for Leyland Motors, Ltd.
MR. H. SHEPHERD-CARTER, who has joined the Irish Dunlop Co., is returning to familiar ground. He joined the Dunlop concern in Belfast in 1914 and was transferred to Dublin, where he served until the end of 1917. He then went to Bombay as district manager and was subsequently district manager in Colombo and then in Madras. He returned to England in 1921, and since then has, for the most part, been attached to the London depot.
