Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TO reduce the risk of fractures in road springs, by ensuring that they are protected from rust and Corrosion by being kept permanently floating in grease, Creators, Ltd., New Haw, Weybridge, Surrey, are manufacturing a new form of spring gaiter.

Called the Lubrigaiter, it is of 'convoluted pattern and is a special synthetic compound, developed after extensive research and road tests. One test included fitting a gaiter over a rear spring of a vehicle so that several inches of the gaiter rubbed against the chassis. After 18 months of severe road conditions, inspection proved that the gaiter was proof against abrasion, it is claimed.

Although Lubrigaiters are supplied in fixed lengths of 18 in., they can be cut to fit any spring. To fit the .gaiter, the spring shackles are unbolted to slide

the gaiter over the end of the Spring' up to the centre U-bolt. The gaiteris

then secured at each end. A grease nipple is incorporated with each gaiter and through it grease is injected until the gaiter is full.

Lubrigaiters can be fitted to rubberinterleaved springs but, of course, grease should not be injected.

Creators, Ltd., also manufacture a second form of Lubrigaiter comprising a roll of specially prepared tough syn thetic tape which resists oil, petrol, water and abrasion. This tape is coated on one side with adhesive, and may be bound around a spring. The gaiter may be filled with grease through a nipple bound on to the spring.

gaiter costs 12s. 6d. A kit of the synthetic tape suitable for Wrapping two springs is priced at 19s. 6d.
