THE tendency for the revenue of British Road Services to rise and for tonnage and mileage to decline continues. In the first 40 weeks of this year tonnage dropped by 3.2m. and mileage by 30.5m. In the first 44 weeks, however, revenue was £1.7m. higher than in the comparable period of last year.

In the four weeks to November 1, B.R S. earned £6.5m., compared with £6.2m. a year ago, and in the first 44 week's of the year, £66.4m., contrasted with £64.6m.

Tonnage carried in the first 40 weeks of the year amounted to 30.2m. (33.4m. last year) and the mileage covered was 516m. (546.5m.).
