FTER the August holidays, output

and exports recovered in September. Production rose sharply from an average of 2,878 vehicles a week to 4,934 and exports from 8,199 (valued at £4,902,891) for the month of August to 9,091 (£5,520,104) for September.

The month's. output totalled 24,673 vehicles, of which 11,909 were for export and 12,764 for the home market. Of the 24,002 goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types, '13,204 were under 15 cwt. capacity, 9,576 were from 15 cwt. to 6 tons and 1,222 over 6 tons. Passenger-vehicle output comprised 400 single-deck and 210 double-deck motorbuses and 10 trolleybuses-a total of 620. Fifty-one battery-eleetrics were built.

In the first nine months of the year, 173,802 vehicles were made (81,306 for . export and 92,496 for home users). Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types totalled 168,349 (86,-634 under 15 cwt., 70,206 from 15 cwt. to 6 tons and 11,509 over 6 tons).

Passenger-vehicle manufacturers produced 5,046 units, comprising 3,193 single-deck and 1,768 double-deck motorbuses a n d 85 trolleybuses. Electric vehicles totalled 407. In. addition, 721 pedestrian-controlled electric vehicles were made.

. In the first nine months of the year, 84,376 vehicles (£50,934,797) were exported. In addition, 2,781 used commercial vehicles (£1,210.890), 71,630 agricultural tractors (£30,343,650) and parts and accessories to the value of £54,679,284 were shipped.
