EiLABOR ATE plans to convey sped

tators to their places along the route of the Coronation procession on June 2 and special services throughout Coronation week, were announced on Monday by the London Transport Executive.

Drawing on the experience gained during the last Coronation, the L.T.E.'s bus services will run until 1.30 a.m. on June 1, to enable spectators who wish to come up overnight to take their places along the route. The services will run at frequent intervals, and the usual all-night bus and trolleybus services will be augmented to provide a 15-minute frequency. In some cases, certain of these all-night services will be re-routed to skirt the Coronation area.

Underground and other train services will start at 3 a.m. on June 2, and some bus services will begin at 4.30 a.m. Green line coaches will start between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. From 5 a.m. onwards services will be run at peak frequencies. Some buses on routes serving important suburban rail centres will start before the general commencement of services.

All bus services into the inner central area will be curtailed or diverted on Coronation day. Sixteen special terminal points in or near the Coronation area have been planned. On June 1, many late-night bus services will run to these points after midnight.

Frequent evening services, as well as special services to take people home after the procession has returned, are also proposed. Both buses and trains will be extended to give West End departures up to 1.30 a.m. Late connections with trains at suburban stations are also to be provided.

In conjunction with the Metropolitan Police, London Transport are to publish 2m. free copies of a special guide map of the Coronation route and -the surrounding area. The various sections of the map are coloured in accordance with the special route colourings already devised. Buses running to the special terminals around the Coronation area will carry coloured panels identifying them with the various sections of the Royal route.

A Coronation bus tour, running over the route of the procession itself, will be operated from Whitsun, in addition to the normal circular tours of the City and West End. Special excursions will also be run from the suburbs for people wanting to see the decorations and floodlighting.

Extra services will be operated on the Sunday before the Coronation, and throughout Coronation week, additional buses will run until 1.30 a.m.
