A NEW Ford main dealership for commercial vehicles, vans and cars representing an investment of £2.5m, has been opened by Taylors or Gloucester Limited.

Located in Bristol Road on the outskirts of the City centre, the new 60,000sq ft premises were officially opened on June 4.

Outstanding features are said to be a 23 workbay car servicing department equipped with the latest diagnostic tuning aids, a bodyshop for original finish repair work, customer and staff parking for up to 300 cars and among the most modern commercial vehicle workshops in Europe.

Equipped with a bank of six Bradbury four-post lifts, the section specialising in medium commercials accounts for 4,000sq ft of the total workshop floor area.

Covering a further 10,000sq ft, the heavy cv area features two sets of sunken pits plus three service docks which run the full width of the building.

The pits themselves are equipped with recessed fluorescent lighting and exhaust extraction plus oil, air and lubrication facilities. A chassis dynamometer has also been installed in the new workshop to ensure that optimum engine power can be adhieved.

A Hartridge roller brake tester checks the efficiency of various braking systems and another specialist feature is a fully equipped diesel engine shop, which allows overhaul and recalibration of pumps and injectors to fine limits.
