Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

expressed that no system could be devised that eliminated the possibility of jack-knifing and that did not affect the steering of the tractive unit when travelling on a curve. What is your view?

AThe problem of jack-knifing is one of the most important technical

problems facing the makers of tractive units and semi-trailers. It may be assumed that eventually a non-locking type of system will be evolved that is suitable for application to all wheels and is commercially feasible. In the event the applied braking force will be distributed automatically to all wheels according to the load and the coefficient of friction of the road surface. And this would obviate jack-knifing in addition to reducing stopping distance to a minimum. Several promising systems are under development.
