Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE PUBLIC'S views on the alternative routes for a by-pass on the A55 Bangor-Chester trunk road are to be invited by the Welsh Office.

The A55 carries a great deal of traffic between North Wales, Holyhead and the North-West of England. The section in question is the proposed by-pass around Northop, about 12 miles out of Chester. At present the road here contains sharp bends, a steep gradient and a traffic-lightcontrolled junction.

Two routes are proposed, one to the north and one to the south of the existing road both bypassing Northop village. After considering the views put forward, the Secretary of State for Wales will announce the preferred route for the by-pass.
