A,N announcement by the Transport Minister that the Government had decided not to daily any longer and to show they meant business would open Freightliner terminals to all hauliers who wished to use them . . .

This was the hope expressed by former RHA chairman Mr. A. R. Butt at the annual dinner this week of the Birmingham sub-area. He added:

"We were assured that these terminals would be open to all to assist in the maximum possible use of rail. What a farcical state of affairs instead!"

Mr. Butt, speaking on the eve of a visit by Mrs. Castle to Birmingham, said he hoped that when she met Corporation officials there would be an explanation why not a yard of parking space had been allocated for lorries coming into the city.
