Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• One Of the UK's largest healthcare waste disposal companies has been fined £100,000 after loading trailers with human remains, used dressings and syringes and letting them rot in truck parks.

Eurocare Environmental Services pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court to 10 charges relating to the illegal storage and handling of clinical waste, and polluting a tributary of the river Dee in North Wales with liquid waste. It must also pay 1114,818 costs.

The court heard the company left human tissue, including placentas, in unrefrigerated curtainskied box trailers in lorry parks and private sites in Newcastle and Birmingham for up to five months. An Environment Agency (EA) investigation, spaded by an anonymous fax revealed multiple offences. In one case, bags were spit and leaking and syringes and needles were caught in the rear rubber guard strip.

A Eurocare statement has acknowledged the breaches and apologises.
