coats off to staff at TDG who have recently been involved in two major projects to aid refugees and orphans overseas. The most recent project helped refugees returning to Rwanda from Tanzania and Zaire. TDG Vehicle Rental worked with Anglican charity Containers of Hope to transport donations of blankets, clothing, medical supplies, cooking utensils and vocational training equipment from Bournemouth to the loading point in Essex: TDG's contribution was
the loan of a seven-tonne box van.
Before Christmas TDG staff else
where had joined forces with f. Bradford engineering firm MeIler to
send clothing and food to Romanian orphans.
Debbie Feetham, administration manager at Meller, and Graham McRobb, a regional engineer at Linkman, volunteered to join a Venture Reprieve convoy to Oradea which included two artics and a 1950s bus. One of the artics was donated by TDG's Linkman and Beck & Pollitzer divisions. Venture
Reprieve was founded in 1993 by Bradford Girls' Grammar School, which has taken several groups to Romania. In 1995 the enterprising schoolies renovated the single-deck 195a London bus used on the pre-Christmas trip.
Debbie Feetham says it opened her eyes: "The journey was treacherous and conditions terrible, with some of the worst weather seen in Europe for many years, but the smiles on the children's faces will be etched on my memory forever?'
