of Mr. A. H. Barlow, Manchester, against the refusal of a variation of an A licence by the North-Western Authority. The L.M.S.R. and L.N.E.R. objected.

Mr. Barlow applied for a licence in respect of claimed and discretionary tonnage, which was granted in part. Later, he applied for a variation on the ground that traffic had increased and on account of the purchase of the haulage business of a Mr. Gregory, who, it was stated, was entitled to 20 tons of claimed tonnage. Mr. I3arlow was allowed to substitute heavier for some of his lighter vehicles, but, otherwise, the original grant was not altered. The appeal was disinissed
