Evans steps up

Lothian Regional Council's new director of public transport is Charles Evans, its deputy director and general manager since January 1975, He succeeds Richard Bottrill who retires on October 31. Mr Evans is a qualified road transport engineer who entered the industry as an Oldham Corporation apprentice in 1952. He served later with Manchester Corporation, and joined Edinburgh City Transport as assistant engineer in 1965.

A new workshop planning officer for London Transport is David Webb, former work study officer. He will be responsible for overhaul and maintenance planning.

Geoff Toft, Sheffield technical representative of Pickfords Heavy Haulage, has moved to Westfield Transport, the Mansfield textile machinery removal contractor as its manager.
