Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Police chief responsible for the Wapping area of London has warned that somebody will be seriously injured or killed if the current spate of violent attacks on TNT vans carrying News International publications is not ended.

Deputy Chief Commissioner Wynn Jones says, "Over the past few weeks, violent attacks on lorries leaving the plant have increased dramatically.

"Last weekend alone there were 23 attacks, some of which involved heavy and lethal lumps of concrete dropped from bridges."

Four drivers had to be treated in hospital after their vehicles were pelted with bricks and concrete. Jones says the four men "escaped with their lives".

There were 82 attacks on TNT vehicles during October, and since the dispute began in January, Scotland Yard has recorded 430 attacks on lorries.

Sogat general secretary Brenda Dean says police records of arrests at the plant show that most demonstrators involved in violence were not print workers.
