• The West Midlands Traffic Commissioners have granted part of an application by the Potteries Motor Traction Company to put up fares. But after appeals from local authorities to spare the short-distance bus travellers, the Comrnisioners decided to "freeze" all fares under Is.
The company, at a hearing at Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, asked for increases of Id on fares up to Is and 2d on other fares.
The new fares are estimated to bring in £255,000 a year.
