THE London, Midland and Scottish 1 Railway Co. announces that it has placed orders with British manufacturers for nearly 900 new road vehicles. These orders, which comprise the company's programme for the present year, have been given with the objects of improving the fleet and making provision for increasing traffic. Details of the orders are as follow :
Associated Equipment Co., Ltd., two Matador 14-ton Gardner-engined articulated eightwheeled tractor units and Carrimore attachments with 22-ft. bodies.
Albion Motors, Ltd., eight 5-ton chassis, three with Gardner oil engines and one complete with cab and 20-ft. body; the other bodies will be built in the L.M.S. works; lour 4-ton Gardner-engined chassis with Transport steel moving-floor bodies; one 4-tan hand. operated tipping lorry.
Bennis Brothers, Ltd., 34 2-ton normalcontrol chassis and cabs, fitted with flat bodies in the L.M.S. works; three 2-ton forward-control chassis With 'parcels van bodies and two 2-ton normal-control chassis with Principality moving-floor bodies. Ford Motor Co., Ltd., 10 Fordsou chassis (13-ft. 1-in. wheelbase) with cabs, three Fordsou
chassis (10-ft. 11-in, wheelbase) with parcels van bodies, and 16 1-ton Ford chassis with parcels van bodies; in each of these cases, the bodies will be fitted at the L.M.S. works. Iu addition, four Fordson 2-ton vehicjes are being supplied, two of them being tippers.
Jewett Cars, Ltd., 11 10-owt, light parcels .vans and one lorry of the same capacity.
Rarrier Motors Successors, Ltd., 61 3-ton Cob .Junior mechanical-horse tractors.
Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., one chassis with a pantechnicon body, and two tractors 'with BrocklMuse Pullniore em i-tr ailer s.
Raleigh Cycle Co., Ltd., 11 El-cert, three' Wheeled light vans.
Seammell Lorries. Ltd., 39 6-ton mechanicalhorse tractors and 100 3-ton mechanical-horse tractors. 1ri addition, the company is supplying 93 trailers of different types for use with these vehicles, L.M.S. Wolverton Works, 73 3-ton coveredtop trailers with Scaromell coupling gear for use with mechanical horses, tour 3-ton trailers with detachable sides and one 3-tonner.
Metropolitan-Cammell-Weymania Motor Bodies, Ltd., 210 3-ton mechanical-horse flat trailers with Scammell coupling gear.
Charles Roberts and Co., Ltd., 42 4-ton fourwheeled trailers and 25 5-ton four-wheeled trailers.
