Not exactly electric, but a definite fuel saver that the market has proved slow to take to its heart, Mercedes-Benz' automatic engine stop-start system has now been relaunched as Eco-Start It's now available on all manual Sprinters and 7.5-tonne Atego chassis, too.
Previously tested by CMas MSS, when it gave a significant fuel saving on a cross-London drive in a Sprinter, it stops the engine after a brief stationary period. restarting it automatically when the clutch is depressed.
