Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Icannot understand the mentality of highway planners in this country. Simple things like mileage signs along the roadside just do not add up. For example, you pass a sign for a city or town, x=5 miles. After a couple of miles the city or town is still no, or possibly one mile, closer.

Also, while driving on the AIM northbound in Hertfordshire in early rushhour, it dawned on me that the road narrowed from three lanes to two on an uphill grade, causing severe holdups which were further aggravated by laden trucks climbing the bank, instead of having a lane for slow vehicles.

Here in Kent on the A2 WhitfieldGuston section running to and from the top of Jubilee Way, the highway authority is, no doubt at the cost of hundreds of thousands of pounds, putting in a stretch of dual-carriageway to link with the new Dover-Ramsgate road, but leaving approximately half a mile of single-carriageway.

Then there are the famous, or should

I say infamous, M25 widening schemes, which are almost complete here. But now we hear that those in charge are likely to start back at Heathrow and widen from four to six lanes. They were advised at the start of the M25 to build at least four lanes and possibly more.

This must be costing us more in taxes than the planners are worth. I feel it is about time people in authority were told what that ministry requires, hopefully saving us a lot of money.

These are just some examples of the stupidity of the road planners of this country. Also, all the best to J5 Cook, with whom I have already worked on his forthcoming proposed event (the blockade of Doved. Many of us have tried in the past with no success and also the police would not allow him to carry this out. Now I find in the press that this has come to pass, which shows what a police or Government dictated state we have become. AC Buckman,

HGV Driver Relief Services.
