N'premises of Kenyon and Co., Ltd., Marsh Lane, Preston, were formally opened last Wednesday. This is a well-known bodybuilding concern in the north country, and is one of the organizations controlled under the new scheme of Leyland Motors, Ltd., for selling the Cub model through the trade.

The present wing of the new building, which measures 185 ft. by 100 ft., occupies part of a site of 5,500 sq. yds. This is ultimately to be developed for . high-class coachbuilding and for use as the main distributing agency for Leyland Cub chassis. Amongst the modern equipment installed on the forecourt are a Skyld lift, Tecalemit highpressure-greasing apparatus, Wayne electrically operated petrol pumps, etc.

The present-day concern of Kenyon and Co., Ltd., is the development and extension of a coachbuilding business started in 1882, and Mr. Ernest A. Heaney has for long been at the head.

Nine different models of Leyland Cub were exhibited at the opening ceremony. Amongst those present with Mr. Heaney were the Mayor of Preston (Councillor T. C. Rainford) ; Mr. Ewart Bradshaw, F.I.M.T., governing director of Loxhams Garages, Preston, and chairman of the East Lancashire and Cheshire division of the Motor Traders Association; Captain Bettridge, of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd.; Mr. C. le M. Gosselin, of H. Yiney and Co., Ltd., Preston, and Mr. C. Miller, of H. V. Burlingham and Co., Ltd. ; whilst Leyland Motors, Ltd., was represented by Messrs. Henry Spurrier (the Managing director), Henry Spurrier, Junior; A. A. Liardet (general manager), R. Allen and A. B. Chadwick. '

At the luncheon the Mayor of Preston mentioned that his town already operated 17 Leyland buses and had just ordered a further 14 vehicles.

Mr. Liardet explained that the past policy of Leyland Motors, Ltd., was not to deal exclusively with the trade, but it had been decided to put the Cub model almost wholly in the bands of the trade. Mr. Heaney said that, at the end of December last, his company placed an order for 20 Leyland, Cubs, and 15 firm orders had been booked.

Mr. Henry Spurrier is to be seen in the picture on page 75, in the company of the Mayor of Preston and Mr. Heaney at the formal opening.
