• Finance sales of LGVs grew by 21% in the first quarter of 1995—but finance sales of used LGVs were down 21.5% to 3,970, according to the latest edition of the HPI-Equifax Motor Industry Monitor. The Monitor costs £25 per quarterly issue (or £80 a year).

• The 1995 Autodata Diesel Data Manual contains information on smoke opacity and oil temperature for annual tests with data on lubricant grades, glow plug identification and tightening torques. It covers all diesel vehicles since 1985 and costs £39.

Toxic paper

• The Health and Safety Executive has released two consultation documents on the planned occupational exposure standards (OESs) for a range of toxic substances. One, in series EH64, includes a summary of nine proposed OESs. The other, in series EH65. gives full information on four of the OESs. The EH64 series of summaries will be of more use to hauliers, workshop managers and other employers who have to control exposure to toxic substances as required under the 1994 COSHH regs.
