nPERATING 11 livestock vehicles, five of

which are Seddons, Bowles Transport, Ltd., Ford, Temple Guiting, have put into service a container truck with accommodation for 150 sheep. The vehicle, based on a Seddon Mk. 6C chassis of 16-ft. 4-in, wheelbase, was supplied by H. R. Wilson-Scott, Ltd., Monk Meadow, Gloucester.

The body, built by Messrs. Drew Bros., Frampton Cotterell, near Bristol, is 21 ft. long and has two upper decks. The underslung rear springs afford a low loading line.

The vehicle will be used extensively for the long-distance transport of sheep to and from large sales in Wales and the Midlands, and of cattle from markets to all parts of the Kingdom.

A Perkins R.6 oil engine transmits power through a David Brown heavy

in a repeat purchase. They comprise a total of four articulated outfits (10 tons).

Waters and Cooper, Ltd., Four Throws, Hawkhurst. Kent, have taken over two lorries (6 tens) based at Maidstone. They made up list 9 unit 6121.

One-vehicle purchases have been made by: E. A. Castle and Son, Ltd., Rede Court Road. Wood (Maidstone unit 6930 —3 tons); Mr. P. Pendergast, 29 Elmer Road, London, S.E.6 (Greenwich unit 6241-2 tons); Mr, Peter Davis, 46 Court Street, Faversham, Kent (Faversham unit 6813-3 tons); Mr. E. G. Bale, 261 Coulsdon Road, Old Coulsdon, Surrey (Brentford unit 6221-7 tons); and Mr. C. J. Brown, Hillview, Priory Lane, Eynsford, Kent (unit not known).

Special A licences for a further four lorries (9 tons 9 cwt.) and two trailers have been granted to Graham Adams, Ltd., Transport Wharf, New Malden, Surrey.

Repeat purchases have also been made by Rand and Brunt, Ltd., 28 Bridge Road East, Welwyn Garden City, Herts (a lorry —4 tons 14 cwt.), and Messrs. Thornetts Depository, 79 Craven Park Road, London, N.W.10 (one vehicle-14 cwt.).

Forde and Donohoe, Ltd., 379 Watford Road, St. Albans, Herts have made their first purchase, comprising a lorry (31 tons).

Another first purchaser is P. and P. Transport (London), Ltd., 325a King Street, London, W.6 (two lorries-1 ton 18 cwt.).

The Metropolitan Licensing Authority has authorized the following assignments: Mr. H. S. Lowrie, 14 Wellington Flats, Wellington Way, London, E.3, a lorry (3 tons) by P. D. Sleeman, Ltd., 38 Uxbridge Road. London, W.5; Mr_ G. F. Page, 106 Westmoor Street, London, S.E.7, one (3 tons) by Messrs. Tyler and Doogan, 271 Roman Road, London, E.6; and John R. Street and Sons, Ltd., 26 Ware Road, Hertford, Hcrts, one (1 ton 19 cwt.) by Messrs. John R. Street and Son, of the same address.
