• Orders for 673 buses worth nearly £3m were announced by British Leyland's truck and bus division last month. The largest single order was from the Merseyside PTE for 250 Leyland Atlantean rear-engined double-deckers. Other major orders were from Glasgow (200 Atlantean doubledeck—confirmation of order announced in CM, August 7), and Sheffield (55 Daimler Fleetline double-deckers).
The remaining orders were as follows. double-deckers: Al Motor Services,
Ardrossan (seven Fleetline); Belfast (20 Fleetline); Grimsby (16 Fleetline); Halifax (four Fleetline); Huddersfield (four Fleetline); BOAC London Airport service (six Atlantean); Nottingham (25 Atlantean); Graham's Bus Service Ltd (one Fleetline); Portsmouth (33 Atlantean); Reading (20 Bristol VIZT /LL); and Teesside .(19 Fleetline).
Single-deckers: Hartlepool (seven Bristol RELL) and Lancaster (six Leyland Leopard).
