• Today, January 1, Jameson Europa Ltd launched what is claimed to be the first guaranteed road transport service to Europe. both from the North and from Southampton. It offers both groupage and full 20-ton load facilities, with a guarantee that the load arrives in Paris on the planned day—goods delivered to the Heywood, Lanes, depot by 5 pm on a Thursday to be in Paris on the following Monday. From the South the deadline for goods to arrive at Paris on the Monday will be 4 pm on the previous Friday at the Southampton depot, crossing via Townsend-Thoresen ferry.
Ten new TIR 20-tonners are on order to cope with expected new trade.
As an introductory offer Jameson Europa, a subsidiary of United Transport Co Ltd, will carry free of charge the first 100 kilos of the first groupage booking per company made during January.
