Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN VERY COLD conditions fire brigades are often faced with the problem of water freezing in the primer of vehicle-mounted fire pumps. Coventry Climax has now introduced an electrically-heated pad which enables this problem to be solved. It is suitable for the Trinity water ring primers fitted to all Godiva vehicle-mounted pumps and can be fitted easily to existing installations.

The pad is shaped to envelop the primer body and is intended to be powered from the vehicle's electrical system, taking only 60W. Thermo statically controlled, the pad switches off when the primer temperature has been raised by about 3deg C; there is no need for anti-freeze to be used in the system.
