Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TNTERESTING variations on the three'. axle theme are represented by the accompanying pictures. At the top is the SeddonUnipo wer double-drive six-wheeler which is a new model developed by Seddon Motors and Universal Power Drives. Designed to operate at a plated g.v.w. of 22 tons, it will be offered with single-drive bogie as an option. In double-drive form the Eaton two-speed bogie will be used with Hendricks on fully articulating two-spring suspension. The wheelbase will accommodate 20ft or 24ft tipping bodies—or 24ft flats or dropsides.

In the centre is the first vehicle to be fitted with the Primrose-Ceschi self-steering axle (CM. November 3)—a Guy Big J 1811-wheelbase tipper plated at 22 tons gross. It is being handed over by Mr. Jack Harper (right), sales director of Primrose Group Sales, to Mr. Harry Robinson, managing director of Robinson Bros (Wray) Ltd. Addition of the self-steer axle has added a ton to the gross weight. In chassis-cab form the Primrose-converted Guy weighs 6 tons 1 cwt (wet); complete with tipping gear and body its unladen weight is 7 tons 14 cwt.

The third picture shows the first Neville Dumptrailer to be coupled to a Ford D1000 tractive unit—a combination which offers a legal payload of 16 tons 7 cwt. The Ford is a 9ft 6in.-wheelbase model, and the Dumptrailer is the 15 cu.yd. s.w.b. version. with Rub cry Owen axle and 10 SWG steel body.
