L.T.E. OPPOSE BAN

Aanswer has been given by the London Transport Executive to the Metropolitan Boroughs Standing Joint Committee, who asked for legislation to ban boarding and alighting from buses except at recognized stops. The L.T.E. feel that such legislation is neither necessary nor desirable.

The Executive explains that they are not satisfied that they have any right to refuse to accept passengers between stops, but want staff to discourage boarding or alighting at such unrecognized stopping places. They believe 'the good sense of Londoners will continue to prevail."

ABERDEEN'S BIG SAVINGS

I NTERNAL economies by Aberdeen Transport Department have been successful and the need to increase fares staved off.

Cllr. S. Hey, convener, told the transport committee last week that in the first three-quarters of the current financial year the undertaking had a surplus of £59,963. It is hoped that by May a large part of the £102,000 debt outstanding at the beginning of the financial year would be cleared.

METACASTIK AMALGAMATION

THE whole of the issued share capital of Precision Rubbers, Ltd., has been acquired by Metalastik. Ltd.. a company half the shares of which are held by the John Bull Rubber Co., Ltd. Mr. T. L. Gamer, chairman and managing director of Precision Rubbers, Ltd., continues in those capacities and takes a directorship of John Bull and Metalastik. John Bull now seek to acquire all Metalastik ordinary shares.
