by the Leicester' Area of the National Conference of Express Carriers, which has recently compiled and put into operation an agreement standaraizing conditions of carriage and rates for parcels for 600 destinations. All parcels carriers operating from Leicester have subscribed to this, and after two months' intensive trials have acknowledged it to be entirely satisfactory. Even the originators have been amazed to find the way in which this step towards unity has in no way destroyed individuality, but has much enhanced the standing of the carriers with the trading community.

Traders, as a whole, are beginning to realize the real importance of road transport, ana now that these .EarrierS can speak with one voice they arc being heard—and, further, respected.

We have a copy of the rates agreement, and it is a stupendous work, covering 77 pages of explanatory and tabular patter, every rate beingcoded, the document being completed by the code--table. .
